The controller is the natural or legal person who alone or jointly with others determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data (e.g. names, e-mail addresses, etc.).
Revocation of your consent to data processing
Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time. All you need to do is send us an informal e-mail. The legality of the data processing carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.
Right to object to data collection in special cases and to direct advertising (Art. 21 GDPR)
If data processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e or f GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. The respective legal basis on which processing is based can be found in this privacy policy. If you object, we will no longer process your personal data concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims (objection pursuant to Art. 21 (1) GDPR).
Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority
In the event of violations of the GDPR, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of their habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged violation. The right to lodge a complaint is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy.
Right to data portability
You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in fulfilment of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a commonly used, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only take place if it is technically feasible.
SSL or TLS encryption
This site uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or enquiries that you send to us as the site operator. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from ‘http://’ to ‘https://’ and by the lock symbol in your browser line.
If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
Information, blocking, erasure and rectification
Within the framework of the applicable legal provisions, you have the right to free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the data processing and, if necessary, a right to correction, blocking or deletion of this data at any time. You can contact us at any time at the address given in the legal notice if you have further questions on the subject of personal data.
Right to restriction of processing
You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. To do so, you can contact us at any time at the address given in the legal notice. The right to restriction of processing exists in the following cases:
If you have lodged an objection in accordance with Art. 21 (1) GDPR, a balance must be struck between your interests and ours. As long as it has not yet been determined whose interests prevail, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, this data – apart from its storage – may only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or of a Member State.
Objection to advertising emails
We hereby object to the use of contact data published as part of our obligation to provide a legal notice for the purpose of sending unsolicited advertising and information material. The operators of this website expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, such as spam e-mails.
3. data collection on our website
Cookies
Some of the Internet pages use so-called cookies. Cookies do not damage your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies are used to make our website more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser.
Most of the cookies we use are so-called ‘session cookies’. They are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your end device until you delete them. These cookies enable us to recognise your browser on your next visit.
You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be restricted.
Cookies that are required to carry out the electronic communication process or to provide certain functions that you have requested (e.g. shopping basket function) are stored on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the storage of cookies for the technically error-free and optimised provision of its services. Insofar as other cookies (e.g. cookies for analysing your surfing behaviour) are stored, these are treated separately in this privacy policy.
Server log files
The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are
– Browser type and browser version
– Operating system used
– Referrer URL
– Host name of the accessing computer
– Time of the server enquiry
– IP address in anonymised form (shortened by the last two digits)
This data is not merged with other data sources.
This data is collected on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimisation of its website – the server log files must be recorded for this purpose.
4. newsletter
Newsletter data
If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an e-mail address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the e-mail address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. No further data is collected, or only on a voluntary basis. We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and do not pass it on to third parties.
The data entered in the newsletter registration form is processed exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can revoke your consent to the storage of the data, the e-mail address and its use for sending the newsletter at any time, for example via the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by the cancellation.
The data you provide us with for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and deleted after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Data stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected by this.
MailChimp
This website uses the services of MailChimp to send newsletters. The provider is Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.
MailChimp is a service that can be used to organise and analyse the sending of newsletters, among other things. If you enter data for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter (e.g. email address), this data is stored on MailChimp’s servers in the USA.
MailChimp is certified in accordance with the ‘EU-US Privacy Shield’. The ‘Privacy Shield’ is an agreement between the European Union (EU) and the USA, which is intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards in the USA.
With the help of MailChimp, we can analyse our newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent with MailChimp, a file contained in the email (known as a web beacon) connects to MailChimp’s servers in the USA. This makes it possible to determine whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, have been clicked on. Technical information is also collected (e.g. time of access, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. It is used exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better adapt future newsletters to the interests of the recipients.
If you do not wish to be analysed by MailChimp, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a link for this purpose in every newsletter message. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter directly on the website.
The data processing takes place on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can revoke this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by the cancellation.
The data you provide us with for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and deleted from both our servers and the MailChimp servers after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Data stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected by this.
For more information, please refer to MailChimp’s privacy policy at: https://mailchimp.com/legal/terms/.
Conclusion of a data processing agreement
We have concluded a so-called ‘Data Processing Agreement’ with MailChimp, in which we oblige MailChimp to protect our customers‘ data and not to pass it on to third parties. This agreement can be viewed at the following link: https://mailchimp.com/legal/forms/data-processing-agreement/sample-agreement/.
5. Plugins and Tools
YouTube with Enhanced Privacy Mode
Our website uses plugins from the YouTube website. The operator of the pages is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.
We use YouTube in enhanced privacy mode. According to YouTube, this mode ensures that YouTube does not store information about visitors to this website unless they play the video. However, the enhanced privacy mode does not necessarily prevent data from being transmitted to YouTube partners. For example, YouTube connects to the Google DoubleClick network regardless of whether you watch a video.
As soon as you start a YouTube video on our website, a connection to YouTube’s servers is established. This informs the YouTube server about which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account, you allow YouTube to directly associate your browsing behaviour with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.
Furthermore, after starting a video, YouTube may store various cookies on your device. These cookies allow YouTube to obtain information about visitors to our website. This information is used, among other things, to collect video statistics, improve user experience, and prevent fraud attempts. These cookies remain on your device until you delete them.
After starting a YouTube video, additional data processing operations may be triggered over which we have no control.
The use of YouTube is in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offers. This constitutes a legitimate interest as defined by Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
For more information about privacy at YouTube, please refer to their privacy policy: http://www.youtube.com/t/privacy_at_youtube.
System Security Plugin
We use a plugin for system security. This plugin protects the content management system of our website from attacks and unauthorised access. For this purpose, the plugin sets three cookies with a storage duration of approximately two days and logs IP addresses. Access logs stored by the plugin are automatically deleted seven days after collection. Protecting our website constitutes a legitimate interest as defined by Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
6. Analytics Tools and Advertising
Matomo
This website uses the open-source web analytics service Matomo. Matomo uses technologies that enable cross-site recognition of users to analyse user behaviour (e.g., cookies or device fingerprinting). The information collected by Matomo about the use of this website is stored on our server. IP addresses are anonymised before storage.
Using Matomo allows us to collect and analyse data on the use of our website by visitors. This helps us determine, for example, when page views occur and from which regions they originate. We also collect various log files (e.g., IP addresses, referrers, browsers, and operating systems used) and can measure whether our website visitors perform certain actions (e.g., clicks, purchases, etc.).
The use of this analytics tool is based on Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the anonymised analysis of user behaviour to optimise both its web presence and advertising. If corresponding consent has been requested, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and § 25(1) of the TTDSG, as far as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s device (e.g., device fingerprinting). Consent can be revoked at any time.
Hosting
We host Matomo exclusively on our own servers, so all analysis data remains with us and is not shared.
Google Analytics
This website uses features of the web analytics service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Ireland Limited („Google“), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
Google Analytics uses „cookies“, which are text files stored on your computer that allow the website to analyse your use of the website. Information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA.
The storage of Google Analytics cookies and the use of this analytics tool are based on Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour to optimise both its web offering and advertising. If corresponding consent has been requested (e.g., consent to store cookies), processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) of the GDPR; consent can be revoked at any time.
IP Anonymisation
We have enabled IP anonymisation on this website. This ensures that your IP address is truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity, and provide other services related to website and internet use to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser within the framework of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data.
Browser Plugin
You can prevent cookies from being stored by configuring your browser software accordingly; however, please note that in this case, you may not be able to fully use all the features of this website. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.
Objection to Data Collection
You can prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will be set to prevent your data from being collected during future visits to this website: Disable Google Analytics.
For more information on how Google Analytics handles user data, please refer to Google’s privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en.
Data Processing Agreement
We have entered into a data processing agreement with Google and fully comply with the strict requirements of German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.
Demographics in Google Analytics
This website uses the “demographics” function of Google Analytics, which allows reports to be created containing information on age, gender, and interests of site visitors. This data comes from interest-based advertising by Google and third-party visitor data. This data cannot be attributed to a specific individual. You can disable this feature at any time via your Google account ad settings or prohibit the collection of your data by Google Analytics as described in the section “Objection to Data Collection”.
Storage Duration
Google reCAPTCHA
Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).
The purpose of reCAPTCHA is to verify whether data entered on our websites (e.g., in a contact form or job portal) is provided by a human or an automated program. To do so, reCAPTCHA analyses the behaviour of website visitors based on various characteristics. This analysis starts automatically as soon as the visitor enters the website. For the analysis, reCAPTCHA evaluates a range of information (e.g., IP address, time spent on the site, or mouse movements made by the user). The data collected during this process is transmitted to Google.
Data processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in protecting its online offerings from abusive automated spying and spam.
Further information on Google reCAPTCHA and Google’s privacy policy can be found at: https://policies.google.com/.
WordPress Stats
This website uses the WordPress Stats tool to statistically evaluate visitor access. The provider is Automattic Inc., 60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110-4929, USA.
WordPress Stats uses cookies stored on your computer to enable an analysis of website usage. The information generated by these cookies about your use of this website is stored on servers in the USA. Your IP address is anonymised after processing and before storage.
„WordPress Stats“ cookies remain on your device until you delete them.
The storage of „WordPress Stats“ cookies and the use of this analysis tool are based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in anonymised user behaviour analysis to optimise both its website and advertising. If consent has been requested (e.g., consent to store cookies), processing is based exclusively on Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; consent can be revoked at any time.
You can configure your browser to inform you about cookie settings, allow cookies only in individual cases, exclude cookies in certain cases or generally, and enable automatic deletion of cookies when the browser is closed. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of this website.
You can object to data collection and usage for the future by setting an opt-out cookie in your browser via this link: https://www.quantcast.com/opt-out/. If you delete cookies on your computer, you will need to set the opt-out cookie again.
Google Ads and Google Conversion Tracking
This website uses Google Ads, an online advertising program provided by Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
As part of Google Ads, we use conversion tracking. When you click on a Google ad, a cookie for conversion tracking is placed. Cookies are small text files stored on the user’s internet browser. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used to identify users personally. If the user visits certain pages on this website and the cookie has not expired, Google and we can recognise that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page.
Each Google Ads customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot be tracked across the websites of Google Ads customers. Information collected using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for Ads customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive information that personally identifies users.
If you do not wish to participate in tracking, you can opt-out by disabling the Google Conversion Tracking cookie via your internet browser settings. You will then not be included in conversion tracking statistics.
The storage of „conversion cookies“ and the use of this tracking tool are based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour to optimise both its website and advertising. If consent has been requested (e.g., for cookie storage), processing is based exclusively on Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; consent can be revoked at any time.
More information about Google Ads and Google Conversion Tracking can be found in Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en.
You can configure your browser to notify you about cookies, allow cookies on a case-by-case basis, exclude cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. Disabling cookies may limit this website’s functionality.
Google DoubleClick
This website uses Google DoubleClick functions, provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA („DoubleClick“).
DoubleClick is used to display interest-based advertisements across the Google advertising network. Ads can be tailored to the interests of the viewer using DoubleClick. For example, ads can appear in Google search results or banners linked to DoubleClick.
To display interest-based advertising, DoubleClick must recognise the user. A cookie is stored in the user’s browser for this purpose, containing the websites visited, clicks, and other information. These details are compiled into a pseudonymous user profile to show ads tailored to the user’s interests.
The use of Google DoubleClick serves targeted advertising purposes, which is a legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. If consent has been requested (e.g., for cookie storage), processing is based exclusively on Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; consent can be revoked at any time.
You can configure your browser to stop cookies being stored. However, this may limit the website’s functionality. Additionally, DoubleClick may use other technologies to create user profiles, so disabling cookies does not guarantee the prevention of profiling.
Further information on Google advertisements and objection options can be found here: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads and https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated.
Facebook Pixel
This website uses the visitor action pixel from Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA („Facebook“), for conversion measurement.
This enables the behaviour of website visitors to be tracked after they have clicked on a Facebook ad and been redirected to the provider’s website. This facilitates evaluating the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes and optimising future advertising efforts.
The collected data is anonymised for us as the website operator and does not allow us to identify users. However, Facebook stores and processes this data, linking it to the respective user profile. Facebook may use this data for its own advertising purposes in accordance with its data usage policy. As a result, Facebook can display advertisements on Facebook and other platforms. This data processing is beyond our control as the website operator.
The use of Facebook Pixel is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in effective advertising via social media. If consent has been requested, processing occurs exclusively under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and consent may be revoked at any time.
For more information, please refer to Facebook’s data policy: https://en-gb.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
You can also deactivate the „Custom Audiences“ remarketing feature in your ad settings at: https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/?entry_product=ad_settings_screen. To do this, you must be logged into Facebook. If you do not have a Facebook account, you can deactivate Facebook-based advertising on the website of the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices.
